Chaibasa, September 03, 2026: Preparations for the September 8 Gua Martyrs’ Day tribute and asset distribution programme have gathered pace, with West Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Manish Kumar and Superintendent of Police Amit Renu inspecting the event sites and reviewing security and crowd-management arrangements.

The annual programme is being organised in memory of those who died in the Gua firing incident. Chief Minister Hemant Soren, several cabinet ministers, MPs and MLAs are expected to attend the main event along with a large number of people.

Officials review memorial and main event site

Kumar and Renu reached Gua with the district administration and police teams on Thursday. Their inspection began at the Shaheed Memorial, where tributes will be paid to the martyrs on September 8.

The officials reviewed arrangements for security, crowd movement and traffic management at the memorial site and issued directions to the personnel concerned.

They then inspected the main programme venue at the football ground. The team assessed the ongoing preparations for the stage, seating arrangements for VIPs and members of the public, entry and exit points, and security measures.

Helipad and parking arrangements checked

The officials also inspected the proposed helipad and parking areas planned for the programme.

With senior political leaders and a large gathering expected, the administration is focusing on ensuring the safe movement of VIPs while preventing disruption to regular traffic.

At the end of the inspection, the DC and SP instructed the concerned officials to keep traffic management, security and crowd control arrangements in place throughout the event.

They also directed officials to ensure that there was no lapse in preparations or security arrangements.

The Gua Martyrs’ Day programme is held every year on September 8 to commemorate the martyrs of the Gua firing incident.
