Jamshedpur, September 4, 2026: Jamshedpur Police handled 1,746 emergency complaints through Dial-112 in August, with all reported cases marked as resolved, according to police data. The service recorded an average response time of 8 minutes and 42 seconds from receiving a complaint to reaching the reported location.
The monthly figures also show that 17 FIRs and two unnatural death (UD) cases were registered following complaints received through the emergency response system.
The data comes as East Singhbhum Police continues to focus on improving the speed of its emergency response under the leadership of Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Ehtesham Waqarib.
From emergency call to police response
Dial-112 is intended to provide immediate police assistance in situations requiring urgent intervention. Police said citizens can use the service for emergencies including road accidents, criminal incidents, domestic disputes, women-related complaints and other situations requiring immediate assistance.
Once a complaint is received, the concerned police team is alerted and dispatched to the location.
The August response-time figure indicates that the police are tracking the interval between receiving an emergency call and reaching the reported spot as part of the emergency response process.
SSP orders regular review of response system
SSP Dr Ehtesham Waqarib said the Dial-112 service is being reviewed regularly, with monitoring covering the process from receiving calls to reaching the location, taking action and completing the complaint.
The objective, according to the police, is to further reduce response time and make the emergency system more accountable and efficient.
The August figures provide a snapshot of the service’s performance in East Singhbhum, while the registration of FIRs and UD cases shows that some Dial-112 complaints subsequently led to formal police cases.
Police have appealed to residents to dial 112 immediately during an emergency rather than delay seeking assistance.
