Jharkhand News: Jharkhand Police Arrests ₹2 Lakh Rewarded PLFI Zonal Commander Krishna Yadav

Lohardaga, January 16, 2025: In a significant breakthrough, Jharkhand Police apprehended Krishna Yadav, alias Sultan, a notorious zonal commander of the People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) with a bounty of ₹2 lakh on his head. The arrest took place late Tuesday night at his residence in Kuru, Lohardaga district.

Krishna Yadav has been a source of terror in the districts of Ranchi, Lohardaga, Gumla and Latehar, with a long history of criminal activities, including extortion, murder and levy collection. Despite his notoriety, the Ranchi police have yet to issue an official statement confirming the arrest.

Covert Surveillance Leads to Arrest

According to police sources, Krishna Yadav’s movements were closely monitored through the surveillance of his and his wife’s mobile phones. On Tuesday evening, Krishna reportedly called his family, informing them of his arrival at home. Acting swiftly on this intelligence, the police conducted a late-night operation and arrested him as soon as he arrived.

During the operation, a carbine was also recovered, further solidifying the charges against him.

Family Alleges Police Misconduct

Krishna’s sister-in-law, Pooja Devi, told the media that he had planned to surrender at the Lohardaga court on Wednesday, armed with weapons, as part of a pre-arranged deal. She alleged that police officers arrived in three vehicles around 11 PM, forcibly entered the house, and took Krishna into custody after physically assaulting him.

Family members have raised concerns about the possibility of an extrajudicial encounter, urging authorities to ensure transparency and accountability in the case.

A History of Crime and Escapes

Krishna Yadav has been a formidable challenge for Jharkhand Police for years. Six years ago, he was arrested but managed to escape from Balumath police station. Since then, he has been implicated in numerous heinous crimes.

One of the most notable incidents attributed to Krishna occurred four years ago in the Kuru area of Lohardaga. He allegedly shot and killed Vikas Sahu, the son of a local carpenter, Sudeshwar Sahu. In the same incident, he injured Vikas’s wife, Pratima Devi and cousin, Rajesh Sahu, who tried to intervene.
