Irfan Ansari Challenges Jharkhand High Court’s Decision
Irfan Ansari filed the petition to challenge a decision by the Jharkhand High Court. The High Court had dismissed his plea to quash the framing of charges against him in the Dumka Civil Court. The earlier ruling was delivered by a bench led by Justice Arun Kumar Rai.
The charges pertain to an incident dating back to 2018, which has been under legal scrutiny for years.
What is the 2018 Case Against Irfan Ansari?
The case revolves around allegations that a photograph of a minor rape survivor was leaked from Irfan Ansari’s mobile phone. The photo, taken at a hospital, went viral, sparking outrage. Following this, a case was registered at Jamtara Police Station and the matter was subsequently transferred to the Dumka MP-MLA Court.
In December 2022, the Dumka Civil Court framed charges against Irfan Ansari. However, the minister contested the decision, taking the matter to the Supreme Court.
