Ranchi, September 1, 2026: Jharkhand is likely to see another spell of unsettled weather on Tuesday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy rain in 12 districts and warning of thunderstorms, strong winds and lightning in several parts of the state.
The weather system is expected to remain active through Wednesday, while the threat of lightning and thunderstorms may continue in parts of Jharkhand over the following days.
Heavy rain likely in 12 districts
The districts likely to receive heavy rainfall today are Bokaro, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Palamu, Gumla, Dhanbad, Simdega, Ramgarh, East Singhbhum, Chatra, Deoghar, Hazaribagh and Dumka.
Several of these areas may also experience thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds and lightning. Other parts of the state are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall under generally cloudy skies.
Thunderstorms and lightning remain a concern
People are advised to exercise caution when thunderstorms develop and avoid exposed locations such as open fields, agricultural areas, water bodies and isolated trees. Taking shelter inside a safe building is preferable during lightning activity.

Lightning risk may continue on September 3 and 4
The possibility of heavy rainfall is expected to decrease on September 3 and 4, but weather conditions may remain unsettled.
