Jharkhand Weather: IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Jharkhand Amid Dense Fog and Falling Temperatures

Ranchi, December 21, 2024: The impact of a low-pressure system formed over the Bay of Bengal is now being observed in Jharkhand. According to meteorologist Abhishek Anand, the minimum temperature across the state is expected to drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius starting December 21. Additionally, dense fog is likely to blanket the central and southern parts of the state.

Yellow Alert Issued for Dense Fog in Jharkhand

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for districts where dense fog is anticipated. These districts include Ranchi, Gumla, Hazaribagh, Khunti, Ramgarh, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Simdega, Saraikela-Kharsawan, Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Koderma, Lohardaga and Latehar.

Residents in these regions are advised to remain cautious as visibility may be significantly reduced, particularly during the early morning and evening hours.

Temperature Forecast for Jharkhand

Based on the latest 24-hour temperature data:

Ranchi recorded a minimum temperature of 6.2°C, indicating a significant dip.
The highest maximum temperature of 28.6°C was observed in Saraikela of the Seraikela-Kharsawan district.

In Ranchi, moderate fog or mist was observed early Saturday morning, followed by partially cloudy skies. The maximum temperature in Ranchi is expected to fall to 24°C, while the minimum temperature may hover around 12°C.

Safety Advisory for Dense Fog

The Meteorological Department has advised precautionary measures, particularly for motorists, as dense fog can drastically reduce visibility on roads. Key safety tips include:

Driving at reduced speeds.
Using fog lights or low beams for better visibility.
Avoiding unnecessary travel during peak fog hours.
