Ranchi, August 16, 2026 (J.H.): Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar attended the quarter-final of the 135th IndianOil Durand Cup at Birsa Munda Football Stadium in Ranchi on Sunday and interacted with players from SC Delhi and FC Rengdai.
Gangwar met members of both teams and encouraged them ahead of the match. He wished the players success and emphasised the importance of sportsmanship, discipline and strong performance on the field.
The Governor said sports play an important role in the overall development of young people. Participation in sports, he said, helps develop discipline, teamwork, leadership skills and self-confidence.
He also highlighted the role of major national sporting competitions such as the Durand Cup in encouraging young people to take up sports and providing emerging players with opportunities to demonstrate their abilities.
Gangwar wished players from both teams a successful future and encouraged them to continue striving for better performances.
