Ranchi News: Doranda to Ranchi Railway Station Road Construction Delayed by 2 Years

Ranchi, November 08, 2024: The long-anticipated road connecting Ranchi Railway Station to Doranda remains unfinished, extending two years beyond its initial completion date. Initiated by the Path Nirman Vibhag, this project aimed to facilitate direct access from platform number five of the station to Doranda, Hinoo and Dhurwa through a two-phase construction plan. Despite the timeline set for October 31, 2022, significant work still lags, with only 81% completion reported.

Background and Project Details

The construction project was launched in 2017-18, handled by Sildiliya Construction and aimed to ease access to the southern side of the railway station. The first phase focuses on building a 1.5 km approach road from Shaheed Gorkha Chowk, near Nepal House, to platform five of the station. The second phase entails creating a 1.05 km stretch from Rajendra Chowk Main Road to Panchwati Chowk, culminating at the station’s rear entrance. Combined, these two phases total 2.57 km of road.

Current Status and Challenges

As of now, only 81% of the project has been completed. Delays stem from various challenges, including land acquisition issues. Engineers involved in the project have urged the contractor to expedite the process to prevent further delays. Despite persistent efforts, parts of the road construction remain stalled.

Upon completion, this road is expected to significantly benefit commuters from the Doranda side, reducing their reliance on the congested Main Road route to reach the Ranchi Railway Station.
