Chatra, September 04, 2026: A morning outing to the Tadgu river in Chatra’s Sadar police station area turned tragic on Friday after two children drowned while bathing, with a third child still missing.

The three children had reportedly left home in the morning and went to the river. After reaching the riverbank, they entered the water to bathe. The incident occurred soon afterwards, with two children being swept into deeper water.

Local residents alerted Sadar police after the incident and joined the search effort.

Two bodies recovered as search continues

During the search operation, one child’s body was recovered from deep water, while the body of the second child was found near the riverbank.

Police took both bodies into custody and sent them to the hospital for post-mortem examination.

The search for the third child remains underway, with police and divers continuing operations in the river.
