Dhanbad, September 7, 2026: Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) is preparing to increase the dispatch of washed power coal from its Pathardih Washery, with plans to send three rakes every day instead of one to help meet the growing requirements of power plants.

The decision was taken during an inspection of the Pathardih Washery by BCCL CMD Manoj Kumar Agrawal, who directed officials to strengthen the coal dispatch system and ensure regular supplies to the power sector.

The increased dispatch is expected to improve the availability and timely movement of coal to power-generating units.

CMD reviews operations at Pathardih Washery

During his inspection, Agrawal emphasised the need to make the entire chain from coal production to transportation more efficient.

He directed officials to make better use of available resources and improve operational capacity so that coal can be dispatched according to the requirements of the power sector.

The CMD also stressed that increasing production would have limited value unless the coal was transported to its destination on time.

Five Sijua mines inspected

Before reaching Pathardih Washery, the BCCL CMD inspected five major mines in the Sijua area – Amalgamated Sendra Bansjora, Nichitpur, Tetulmari, Mudidih and Kankanee.

He reviewed mining operations, current production levels and operational requirements at the mines.

Officials were instructed to make optimum use of the production capacity of the mines and ensure effective utilisation of available machinery and other resources. The CMD also called for timely resolution of operational difficulties.

Focus on coordination between production and dispatch

During the inspection, the CMD stressed better coordination between mines, the washery and transportation systems.

He directed officials to identify bottlenecks affecting dispatch and resolve them without delay. Regular monitoring of operational requirements was also emphasised.

Three-rake daily dispatch planned

At Pathardih Washery, the CMD reviewed the dispatch of washed power coal and directed officials to put arrangements in place for three rakes per day.

The move comes amid increasing demand for electricity and the resulting need to maintain adequate coal supplies to power plants.

Senior officials from the Sijua and Lodna areas, along with other BCCL officials, were present during the inspections.
