Ranchi, November 01, 2024: The nomination withdrawal process for the Jharkhand assembly elections has concluded, leaving 685 candidates competing for 43 assembly seats. On October 30, the final day for withdrawing nominations, 58 candidates opted out, marking a significant development in the electoral race. Prior to this, the nomination process occurred from October 18 to October 25, during which a total of 805 candidates had filed their nominations.

Following the scrutiny process on October 28, 62 nominations were rejected, bringing the total down to 743 candidates. With the recent withdrawals, the number of active candidates now stands at 685, all set to contest in the upcoming elections scheduled for November 13, 2024.

Increased Competition in the 2024 Jharkhand Elections

The current assembly elections witness a notable increase in candidates, with 52 more individuals vying for seats compared to the 2019 elections, which saw 633 candidates contesting the same 43 seats. This surge in participation indicates a vibrant political landscape in Jharkhand, suggesting heightened public engagement and interest in the electoral process.
