Ranchi, September 30, 2025: The state government of Jharkhand has appointed Avinash Kumar as the new Chief Secretary of the state. He is set to become the 26th Chief Secretary of Jharkhand, succeeding Alka Tiwari, who retired on September 30, 2025. The official order was issued by the Personnel Department, detailing his additional responsibilities.

Avinash Kumar Takes Office as Chief Secretary

Avinash Kumar, a 1993 batch officer, has previously served in several key administrative roles. According to the government order, he will continue to hold his current positions as Additional Chief Secretary, Energy Department, along with Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Development Commissioner, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Jharkhand Energy Development Corporation, Managing Director of Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam, and Chief Local Commissioner, Jharkhand Bhawan, New Delhi, until further orders.

Additional Charge of Development Commissioner Assigned

In a parallel development, Ajay Kumar Singh, currently serving as Additional Chief Secretary of Health, Medical Education & Family Welfare, has been entrusted with the additional charge of Development Commissioner, alongside his existing responsibilities.
