Ranchi, October 19, 2024: In preparation for the upcoming Assembly elections in Jharkhand, authorities in Ranchi have intensified vigilance to ensure a secure and fair election process.
Late at night, District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Varun Ranjan, along with Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Chandan Kumar Sinha and Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Utkarsh Kumar, carried out a surprise inspection at strategic check posts.
Stringent Measures Implemented Ahead of Jharkhand Assembly Elections
The inspection focused on Muri check post, located on the Jharkhand-Bengal border, and the Dulmi check post. This unexpected review was part of the broader strategy to curb any illicit activities that may disrupt the election process. During the inspection, officers emphasized the importance of strict vehicle checks and adherence to security protocols, which play a crucial role in preventing illegal practices.
Officials Issue Directives for Enhanced Vehicle Checks
During the inspection, DC Varun Ranjan and SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha provided clear instructions to the police officers stationed at the check posts. The directives included the need for enhanced vehicle checks, especially focusing on preventing the movement of illegal weapons, ammunition, liquor, and cash. Officers were instructed to maintain high alert and diligence to ensure no unauthorized materials were transported through these routes.
Focus on Preventing Illegal Transportation During Elections
The officials stressed the importance of monitoring and preventing the flow of illegal substances, including firearms and alcohol, which could potentially be used to influence the upcoming elections. SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha stated that law enforcement teams are on high alert and are committed to upholding the integrity of the election process by taking strict measures against any form of illegal activity.
Continuous Vigilance at Key Border Check Posts
Authorities have set up several border check posts to monitor the movement of vehicles and individuals entering the state. The inspection aimed to assess the efficiency of these check posts and to ensure that all security measures are in place. SDO Utkarsh Kumar emphasized that such surprise inspections will be conducted frequently to keep the check posts effective and to send a strong message that law enforcement is vigilant.

With the Assembly elections approaching, the authorities are leaving no stone unturned to guarantee a fair and transparent election. The Ranchi District Administration is actively coordinating with law enforcement agencies to ensure peace and order during this critical period.
DC Varun Ranjan remarked, “Our objective is to maintain the sanctity of the democratic process by preventing any form of illegal activities that could compromise the elections.”

Authorities have planned to implement enhanced security protocols at all strategic locations, especially border areas. More police officers are being deployed to reinforce security and to ensure compliance with the Election Commission’s guidelines.
