Koderma Police Uncover Large-Scale Illegal Liquor Operation

Koderma, December 05, 2024: Koderma police successfully dismantled an extensive illegal liquor operation, seizing a massive cache of liquor and arresting five individuals involved in the racket. Acting on a tip-off, the police launched a well-coordinated operation that uncovered a stockpile of contraband and vehicles used in the illicit trade.

Secret Operation Leads to Major Seizure

The Superintendent of Police, Koderma, received confidential information about the illegal activity, prompting the formation of a special task force. Led by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer and the Inspector of the Domchanch Circle, the team swiftly initiated a search operation in Nawalsahi village, targeting a strategic location near Bindomoh Chowk on the Giridih-Koderma main road.

During the vehicle inspection, a pickup truck bearing registration number BR-01 GM 5334 was stopped. A thorough search revealed 96 cartons of English liquor hidden within the vehicle. Further investigations led the team to a remote forest area in the Pichri village under Nawalsahi police station jurisdiction, where 492 additional cartons of English liquor were discovered inside a dilapidated house.

Seized Vehicles and Arrested Suspects

The police also confiscated two vehicles used for transportation, a second pickup truck (BR-01 GJ 4570) and a Tiago car (JH-10 BW 5995). Five suspects were apprehended during the operation:

  • Rahul Singh (25), Murli Pura, Rajasthan
  • Shambhu Rawat (30), Udaipur, Rajasthan
  • Santosh Sah (40), Giridih, Jharkhand
  • Binod Singh (45), Bariardih, Jharkhand
  • Vijay Sah (45), Dongodih, Jharkhand

The accused were identified as key players in the illegal liquor trade and were taken into custody for further questioning.

Criminal Charges and Legal Proceedings

A case has been registered under Nawalsahi Police Station Case No. 68/24. The accused face multiple charges related to illegal liquor transportation and distribution under the Excise Act and other relevant provisions. Law enforcement authorities are now investigating the wider network and possible connections with organized crime syndicates.

Community Impact and Law Enforcement Response

The successful operation underscores the Koderma police’s commitment to curbing illegal activities in the region. Authorities have urged the public to report suspicious activities, reinforcing the importance of community participation in maintaining law and order.

The seized liquor and vehicles represent a significant blow to the illegal trade, which poses serious risks to public health and safety. The police’s swift and effective action highlights their dedication to eradicating such operations and upholding the law.
