Ranchi, September 7, 2026: Namkum police have arrested two accused in connection with the theft at a jewellery shop in Ranchi and recovered several items allegedly stolen from the premises.
The arrested accused have been identified as Ashok Lohra and Kshitij Kachhap.
The theft was reported from Rahul Jewellers at Chai Bagan, Sadabahar Chowk, in the Namkum police station area on the morning of September 4.
Jewellery and other items stolen
According to the complaint filed by shop owner Shammu Soni, thieves allegedly took a mobile phone, three account diaries, around 100 grams of silver chains, approximately 35 grams of gold-polished chains, two silver rings, a gold nose ring weighing around half a gram, a gold ring weighing approximately three grams and around ₹7,000 in cash.
Following the complaint, senior police officers directed the formation of a special team to investigate the case.
Police recover stolen property
The police team conducted raids as part of the investigation and recovered several items allegedly stolen from the shop.
The recovered property includes an Oppo mobile phone, three account diaries, around 100 grams of silver chains, approximately 35 grams of gold-polished chains, two silver rings and a gold nose ring weighing around half a gram.
The recovered items have been seized as part of the investigation.
Accused questioned
Police said both arrested accused allegedly admitted their involvement in the theft during questioning. Their statements are being examined as part of the investigation.
Police also said that Ashok Lohra has a previous criminal history.
The investigation is continuing to establish the circumstances of the theft and determine whether the accused are linked to any other offences.
Police team involved in investigation
The police operation was conducted under the supervision of Senior Deputy Superintendent of Police Amar Kumar Pandey and Namkum police station in-charge Ram Narayan Singh.
Several other police officers and armed personnel from the police station were also involved in the investigation and arrests.
