Ramgarh, September 30, 2025: In a major crackdown against illegal liquor trade, the Excise Department and Police Administration conducted a joint raid in Ramgarh on Tuesday. The operation, carried out under the direction of Assistant Commissioner of Excise Bimla Lakra, led to the demolition of three illicit liquor brewing units and the seizure of 1,100 kilograms of Java Mahua along with 45 litres of country-made Mahua liquor.

Excise Raid in Ramgarh Targets Illegal Liquor Dens

The raid was led by Sub-Inspector of Excise Kangresh Kumar in coordination with the Rajrappa Police Station. Teams carried out surprise inspections in Chhotki Pona, Sauradih, Borobing, and surrounding areas. During the action, brewing sites were destroyed, and the seized Mahua, commonly used for producing country liquor was confiscated on the spot. Officials confirmed that several individuals involved in the illegal liquor trade managed to escape during the raid.

Authorities reported that approximately 1,100 kilograms of Java Mahua and 45 litres of prepared Mahua liquor were seized from the demolished brewing units. The seized items were taken under custody as part of the enforcement drive. Officials stated that strict monitoring is being conducted in rural areas of Ramgarh to curb the production and sale of illicit liquor during the festive season.

Excise Department’s Warning Against Illegal Liquor Trade

Assistant Commissioner Bimla Lakra emphasized that the crackdown is part of a continuous campaign to restrict illegal liquor sales in the district. She stated that raids will be intensified in the coming days and issued a stern warning that individuals engaged in the illegal liquor business in Ramgarh will face strict legal action under the Excise Act.

Joint Action by Excise and Police in Ramgarh

The joint operation highlights the administration’s proactive measures to ensure law and order during festivals. Officials confirmed that secret intelligence inputs are being used to identify illegal liquor hubs, and more raids will follow in the district to prevent the circulation of country-made liquor.
