Accumulated Garbage and Poor Drainage Cause Health Hazards in Ranchi’s Tupudana Area

Ranchi, October 5, 2025: Residents of Nepalese Colony in Tupudana, Ranchi, have raised concerns over mounting garbage at the entrance of the colony and deteriorating road conditions. Broken roads, foul-smelling waste, and overflowing drains have highlighted the inactivity of local authorities, according to residents.

Waste Accumulation and Poor Drainage Affecting Daily Life

The area under the Tupudana Ring Road, especially near the colony entrance and under the bridge, is covered with stagnant, foul-smelling water mixed with decomposing garbage and mud. Passersby are forced to cover their noses while crossing, and residents report that the Ranchi Municipal Corporation and local representatives have failed to take any effective action.

Local Residents Demand Immediate Cleaning and Drainage Solutions

Local citizens fear that if immediate measures are not taken, the area could turn into a disease-prone zone. Months of water stagnation combined with accumulated garbage have led to a continuous spread of foul odors. Residents claim that despite multiple complaints to the municipal authorities, MLA, and MP, no tangible results have been achieved.

Concerns Over Negligence and Discrimination in Civic Services

Residents like Manoj Nag stated that road maintenance, cleanliness, and safe drinking water have become pressing issues in Tupudana. Another resident, Vimla Bhengra, criticized authorities for cleaning nearby hotel areas promptly while neglecting the colony entrance, calling it clear discrimination. Ricky Topno, a local, said that proper piping for water drainage could have prevented the current mess.

Political Response and Upcoming Road Construction in Nepalese Colony

Local Congress MLA Rajesh Kachhap confirmed over the phone that the matter has been taken seriously. He assured that the road construction work in Tupudana’s Nepalese Colony will begin soon, and the drainage issues under the bridge will be resolved promptly. Residents continue to face challenges due to poor sanitation and flooding from recent rains.
