Chatra: Young Man’s Death Sparks Violence
Chatra, November 22, 2024: Tensions ran high in Chatra’s Pratappur area after a 25-year-old man, Dinesh Yadav, tragically lost his life in a road accident involving a tractor. The incident occurred near the Devi Mandap in Rampur village on Wednesday. Another individual, Pappu Yadav, sustained injuries in the same accident and was treated at a local health center.
The victim, identified as a resident of Karudih village, was riding a motorcycle when it collided with a tractor. The tractor was reportedly owned by Mukesh Singh, a resident of Gome village.
Angry Residents Target Police Station
Enraged by the incident, villagers staged a massive protest, accusing authorities of negligence. Demonstrators damaged a police vehicle and vandalized the Pratappur Police Station. Several files were set ablaze during the chaos.
When law enforcement officials, led by Station In-Charge Qasim Ansari, attempted to retrieve the victim’s body, they were met with strong opposition from the protesters. Despite resistance, the police managed to take possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination at the Chatra Sadar Hospital.
Police File Case Against Protesters
Authorities have filed a case against the agitators, naming 35 individuals and listing 50 others as unidentified suspects. The police have assured swift action to hold those responsible for the vandalism accountable.
