Godda, November 17, 2024: Assam Chief Minister and BJP’s Jharkhand election in-charge, Himanta Biswa Sarma, addressed a significant political gathering on Sunday in Mahagama, stressing the importance of unity within the Hindu community. His remarks underscored the pivotal role of collective strength in historical events, including the construction of the Ram Temple.

Unity as a Catalyst for Change

While addressing the gathering, Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized, “When the Hindu community stands united, significant changes occur. It was this unity that led to the fall of the Babri Masjid and the rise of the Ram Temple.” He linked this example to the need for social cohesion to tackle contemporary challenges.

Concerns Over Demographic Shifts

Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted demographic changes in the Santhal Pargana region as a pressing concern. He pointed out that, “In 1951, there were 23 lakh Hindus and only 2 lakh Muslims in the area. Today, the Hindu population has reduced to 67 percent, while the Muslim population has risen to 31 percent.” He attributed these shifts to the increasing presence of infiltrators and raised an alarm over the potential political and social impacts.

Political Participation of Infiltrators

The Assam Chief Minister also expressed concerns about the growing political participation of non-indigenous communities. “Infiltrators are now contesting for leadership positions, impacting the rights of native daughters,” Sarma said, pointing to a shift that he believes threatens the local populace’s future.

BJP’s Call for Unity

Himanta Biswa Sarma’s speech resonated with BJP’s broader campaign focus in Jharkhand, advocating for the unity of the indigenous and Hindu communities to safeguard their rights and heritage. “We must come together to ensure that we can stand firmly in the future. Without unity, we will struggle to maintain our place and rights,” Sarma added.

Historical Context and Modern Implications

Himanta Biswa Sarma’s reference to the Babri Masjid’s demolition and the construction of the Ram Temple serves as both a reminder of past socio-political upheavals and a call to action. He emphasized that collective resolve has the power to bring transformative changes. The reference to the Santhal Pargana’s demographic data reinforced his narrative, highlighting concerns over cultural and demographic shifts that, according to him, could influence the region’s socio-political landscape.

Security and Cultural Preservation

The Assam Chief Minister’s speech called for vigilance and proactive steps to preserve cultural identity and security. “We must address these issues to prevent further imbalance and to secure our society’s future,” Sarma concluded, urging the community to remain aware and unified.

Significance in the Current Political Climate

As Jharkhand gears up for upcoming elections, the BJP is focusing on themes of cultural preservation and social unity. Himanta Biswa Sarma’s remarks align with this strategy, aiming to consolidate support among Hindu voters and counter the narratives of opposition parties.
